Home improvements and even simple refresh projects require planning and a little organization to be successful – or if not successful then at least less stressful. This is where a home decorating binder, also known as a design binder comes in handy.
A binder full of pages with divider tabs helps to keep everything organized so that you can quickly find what you need. It can be used for a variety of purposes including as an interior design tool, a record of home maintenance and upgrades or simply a way to document your decorating process.
When starting a binder it’s important to have the right supplies. Besides the standard binder and page protectors you will need regular arts and crafts supplies such as pens, markers and a label maker. You will also want to include some binder dividers in cute colors if you’re into that, a stapler and scissors for putting your binder together.
You’ll want a tab for each room that you are working on. This will be where you will store all the ideas that you come up with for the space, sketches and measurements of furniture. Graph paper is a good idea for helping to plan the layout of a room as well as sketching out window treatments, lighting and accessories.
A divider for furniture will be where you will keep the printouts of any furniture selected, the measurements and fabrics along with any receipts from online purchases or in-store purchases. Lastly, the decor divider will be where you will store all of the items that will help pull the room together, from wall art to bed linens.
